Melissa Cartwright is an artist, shoe designer and burlesque producer. She has worked on costume teams in Montreal including L’ Opera de Montreal, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and Centaur Theater. Miss Cartwright studied historical costume at Dalhousie University then moved over to NSCAD University where she completed her B.F.A with a focus on textiles.
In 2003 Melissa attended F.I.T. in New York City, where she studied shoe construction, which lead to the creation of Punch Shoes. Melissa creates wearable art which feature hand embroidery, ribbons & ruffles, polka dots & snaps. The result is truly unique, one of kind footwear. Keeping in line with her love of quirky shoes Melissa has accepted an internship at John Fluevog Shoes in Vancouver.
